Sara Mahmood, D.P.M. completed her undergraduate education at the University of Washington and her podiatric education at the Temple University School of Podiatric Medicine. She subsequently completed her residency at Sisters of Charity Hospital in Buffalo, NY.

During her residency, her research pursuits included developing a clinical tool in identifying vancomycin resistance in diabetic foot infections.
